The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
